Elevator Dedication

Our project came to an official end on Friday, April 12th with the official dedication of the new elevator. The second floor of the Albright Building is now, for the first time in the library's history, handicapped accessible.

Fake Sunshine

As the absolute final touch, lighting was placed behind the stained glass windows above the elevator entrances on the main and second floors. Since these windows no longer look outside, the lights were added so the beauty of the windows can still be appreciated.

Finishing Touches

All that is left now are the final details.

This is the First Floor entrance to the elevator. We just need to do a little cleanup, and it will be ready to use.

This is the interior of the elevator carriage. The door on the left will open to the walkway between the library and the Scranton Cultural Center. Note the glue on the floor. The carpeting installers were working when this photo was taken.

Warm and Inviting

The waiting area now has light and heat as the project nears completion.

This is the outside entrance. Note the titled floor. The elevator door still has its white protective covering, but will gleam silver when it is ready to ride.
